Federico Minoli Ducati CEO resigns... The big news this morning is that Ducati's President, Federico Minoli has announced his intention to leave the company on May 21st, 2007. Apparently the new share holders have pushed him. During his video announcement it seemed clear that Minoli's association with the Texas Pacific Group had a lot to do with the unexpected move.
Minoli credits Ducati's current financial health to decisions made back in 1996 with regards to building the 916 and Monster lines. He also recognises that the 999 and 749 bikes made from 2001 onwards didn't go down well with the Ducatisti community.
Minoli reveals that his future will most likely be focussed on charity work for Rider's for Health.
From a personal perspective, even though under Minoli's leadership Ducati has phased out the veritable Supersport range of bikes, I think he will be missed within the organisation. The 1098 and Hypermotard products are looking good to push the company forward. Minoli also embraced new technology, as can be seen though his Ducati Blog and use of YouTube for company announcements. (source:http://kapitalmoto.co.uk/node/352)
